Smog Score

If you are looking for cars that meet the strictest smog-forming emission standards in California, this tool allows you to search and compare vehicles by their Smog Score.

In California all vehicles manufactured after January 1, 2009 are required to display a Smog Score as part of the Environmental Performance Label. The Smog Score ranks each vehicle’s pollutant levels of Non-Methane Organic Gases (NMOG) and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) relative to all other vehicles within that model year. Smog Scores are on a scale of 1 – 10, with 10 being the cleanest, and 5 being the average. Cars with a Smog Score of 8 or higher meet California's strictest emission standards and are the cleanest available.

Think clean and buy vehicles with higher scores.
