ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE
Did You Know?
It is estimated that 3 million vehicles having the ARB's very clean PZEV emission rating will be on the road by 2010- all warranted for 15 years or 150-000 miles to keep emissions systems running properly.

COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG)
Natural gas is a mixture of hydrocarbons consisting mainly of methane. Natural gas is produced from gas wells or in conjunction with crude oil production. Most of the natural gas consumed in the United States is domestically produced. Since the United States has sufficient production capabilities, the increased use of domestically produced natural gas can reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil. Vehicles operating on natural gas have 80 percent less combined carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide (ozone-forming) emissions than their gasoline fueled counter part.
The natural gas used in vehicles is either in compressed (CNG) or liquefied (LNG) form. Natural gas vehicles can be designed to run on dedicated or bi-fuel systems. Dedicated fuel system are designed to run only on natural gas while bi-fuel vehicles have two separate fueling systems that allow the vehicle to use either natural gas or gasoline. Every Continental State has access to natural gas through pipelines.
