Cars with a PZEV emission rating have such tight pollution controls, and the burning of fuel is so complete, that in very smoggy urban areas, exhaust out of the tailpipe is actually cleaner than the air outside.

Look for more exciting features and searches on DriveClean.ca.gov this April. The new site will allow you to search all vehicles sold in California by make/model, technology type and vehicle category, and compare smog levels. You can even find out how the car you are driving stacks up in terms of emissions. The site will continue to highlight the cleanest advanced technology vehicles available in California and provide details to help you compare vehicle options across a variety of features from smog score, MPG, MSRP, purchase incentives in your area, and more. In addition, you will be able to personalize your search to calculate your annual smog emissions and fuel costs based upon your driving habits.
